about

This is yet another song that was born out of heartache, but with a touch of hope that things could be fixed. One night I picked up my guitar and just started strumming out some simple chords. It wasn’t much, but it just spoke to me. I started writing some lyrics about my feelings trying to work things out with my ex-fiancée. We were trying to recover our relationship after she’d had an affair. I was unsure about our future. It didn’t seem so certain anymore. Getting back would take work. Ultimately, it didn’t work out, which is how the song Sour Cream came about, but that’s another story. Trust...can be so easily broken.

lyrics

Lost and Not Found
Verse 1
Trust - can be so easily broken
And you gotta work hard
To get it back

I try - to lift my head up
But the weight brings me
Back down

Fear - of the dark and unknown
Can feel so
Crippling

Feel like I'm drowning
The waves wash
Over me

Chorus
Clawin' my way back up to the surface
The light comin down, it eases the burden
I wasn’t before, but yeah now I’m certain
Everything passes, including this hurtin’
Before dawn comes it’ll probably worsen
I’m spinnin' 'round, at the mercy of the current
but I’m pulling for the shore and I think it’s workin'
no way to stop me 'less they cave the whole earth in

Verse 2
Stare - at the clock
As the hours go by
And no time is passing

“Forget the past” I tell myself
Much easier
Said than done

Memories of lives not put together
How'd our future
Look to you

Stare at the time
As the clock goes ‘round
Those do-nothing hands are mine

Chorus
Dynamite’s on the rocks and I feel the fuse
Bright-burning phosphor, a tracer lancing through
Guiding the chaser—the next shot can’t lose
There are some things worse than the tomb
I’m the patient and surgeon alone in my room
It’s a me-ectomy to stop the abuse
I trusted you
