Why do we accept being called "resources" at our jobs? In 2018 when Southwest's engine failure killed a passenger, their PR put out a statement:"deepest sympathies to the family and loved ones of the deceased customer". Customer? Southwest was almost human, talking about family and love and then give away the game by framing their relationship to the incident around the financial transaction. "Guest" would have been better, but still cloyingly corporate. "Passenger" even better. But why did I expect a legal entity to be human? No, the economy grinds on, not giving a fuck about us, and even urges us to dehumanize our coworkers, neighbors, political antagonists (including family), incarcerated, homeless, immigrants. The greatest trick divide and conquer ever pulled was convincing the world it wasn't happening to them.

lyrics
Verse
Got some news today, the overtime it just ain't coming
The check’s a little light this week, dear
Bank account is getting close to nothing
If corporate slips again we'll all be seeing pink
Coming home I can't relax. This job is taking over
My soul can't take much more
I know we've got them bills to pay but this just ain't worth it
More human than resource
Chorus
You don't own my dinosaur brain
Debts are coming due
The rock and the place I can't squeeze through
No choice but to break break break
Verse
Coming home I can’t relax, apprehension keeps me static
I’ve got too much time to think
Let's chase the good life across Nebraska, our arm out the window holding the door shut cuz it's all fucking broken
Chorus
You don't own my dinosaur brain
Debts are coming due
The rock and the place I can't squeeze through
No choice but to break break break
